Ready! Set! Summer!

Holidays are here and we couldn’t be happier! You could be spending your vacation on an art escape in the unique Kastellorizo in Greece, or in Bordeaux “La Cite Du Vin” sitting on a sidewalk café sipping fine wine. You could be island hoping in Spain between Ibiza the party capital to any of the chilled Balearic Islands like Formentera or Majorca. whether you’re with family, friends or just alone meeting new people, in any place you find yourself this August the sun is sure to be shining!

All year around we spend our time grooming and perfecting our physical conditions to roam around our summer days like free spirits. Though I’d love to say the work is over, with beauty there is always some effort or attention to give. Our treatment & development director, Rabbia Aslam, never fails to remind us of important ways to keep our skin happy and healthy.

While the sun and heat is blissful after such a cold winter it’s essential to be aware of how damaging it can be to your skin. Rabbia comments that this season can affect your skin specifically with sun damage, antioxidants, and ageing. Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is the best daily ritual for your face and body. Using SPF products with UVA & UVB protection enhances your chances of avoiding premature ageing caused by free radicals.

Combining your sunscreen with cosmeceuticals and treatment procedures will keep your skin youthful and firm. Rabbia advises to rejuvenate the skin constantly, the cosmeceuticals used should include prescriptive retinoids, retinol and alpha hydroxyl acids. Give your skin an extra boost and invest some time in doing treatment procedures such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels and laser resurfacing.

Lifestyle is an important influence on your physical conditions as your mind reflects into your body. Stress is always a problem and in this case it can break down the collagen in your skin. This means that stress decreases the firmness and flexibility of your skin. Reducing and managing your stress factors is a major essential for this summer.

Another lifestyle tip is decreasing sugars in your daily diet. High levels of sugars can cause the protein fibers to become stiff and malformed, slowly rearranging their youthful structure into damaged proteins. The next time you crave sugars rather than reaching for a chocolate bar grab some fresh pressed juice, it will fill you right up and give your body all the nutrients to keep it healthy and balanced.
