Halloween, a season fit for ghosts and ghouls (or munchkin pumpkins if that’s not your thing).
We’re getting into the spirit this year by repeatedly puncturing the skin with microscopic needles … It’s not as bizarre as it sounds and there’s method behind our madness! Let us explain
11 TINY NEEDLES
Also referred to as ‘Collagen Induction Therapy’ or ‘Dermarolling’, Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment to essentially, rejuvenate the skin. After the treated area is topically numbed, your Aesthetic Therapist will cover the skins surface with a topical serum and peptide mix.
The handheld needle device then glides over the skin and repeatedly punctures the surface with 11 tiny needles. But, rest assured, the punctures are more like pin-pricks that enter only skin deep – it’s not that terrifying!
This process creates minute trauma which triggers a wound-healing response and it is this that stimulates the production of natural collagen and elastin which in-turn, leaves the skin refined, tighter and more even. Microneedling isn’t just subject to the face, we also use this process to reduce the appearance of large pores, scarring and stretch marks on the body.
Microneedling is a virtually painless treatment, the topical anaesthetic cream is there to provide optimal comfort.
Depending on the aggressiveness of treatment, you may experience pin-point bleeding during the treatment but this won’t continue and any bleeding stops afterwards. You’ll experience minor redness and irritation for a few days after the procedure, we compare this to a ‘sunburn’ sensation.
