5 important tips from HC MedSpa to protect your skin and body this festive season

Around this time of year the cold, the harsh rain, excess salt and fat, along with sugar and alcohol, start to have an effect on our weight and complexion. Here are our top tips to help you through the festive season.

  1. Firstly, protect your skin from within. Going from the freezing outdoors, to heated rooms leads to dryness of the skin on our face and hands, which can lead to flaking and cracking. Add vitamin E into your day as it is proven to quell dryness and moisturise your skin from within. As Christmas snacks are being passed round, opt for ones that contain fish, olive oil and nuts, as all of these are rich in vitamins, especially vitamin E.
  2. To protect your face and body on the outside, I’d also suggest the PRIORI Face & Body scrub, which you can buy at any of our HC MedSpa branches for just £31. The invigorating scrub is designed for both the face and body, and gently exfoliates, leaving skin baby-soft, soothed and radiant. The PRIORI scrub exfoliates surface skin cells to help revitalise dry, aged, sun-damaged skin, leaving it soft, smooth and hydrated, and it’s ideal for all skin types.
  3. It is tempting to over indulge on Champagne and mulled wine drinking more than is recommended for us, so try to take a milk thistle supplement in the day to protect your liver. Milk thistle is a powerful herb that supports the liver and promotes balance and equilibrium in the body during times of excess and over indulgence.
  4. Prevent grey and tired skin caused by a lack of sleep. Create an easy homemade facemask using honey & egg white; an excellent and natural way to preserve your skin. Honey is a wonderful moisturiser and helps to lighten the skin naturally. It also thoroughly cleanses your skin and penetrates deep pores, resulting in glowing skin. Mix one egg white with one tablespoon of honey, preferably organic. Apply to the neck and the face, and leave it on for 20 minutes, and then you simply wash it off with cold water to refine pores, before adding a moisturiser to finish.
  5. The final tip is simple yet very effective. Include a hot tea made with just a slice of fresh lemon and ginger when you wake up each morning. The lemon is alkaline and rich in vitamin C which is excellent for your skin, whilst the ginger reduces inflammation which you need to reduce bags and facial puffiness. This will help your kidneys to eradicate toxins and rehydrate your body and skin.
