Gummy Smile Correction

Muscle relaxant injections

  • 1 Corrects an 'over smile'
  • 2 Discreet yet effective
  • 3 Safe procedure with no downtime

Gummy Smile Correction is suitable for those with a high lip-line. Often these individuals appear to be ‘over smiling’ and you may notice a large area of gum showing above the upper teeth. This is very common in both men and women and is easily resolved without the need for gum shaving or extensive surgery.

Here at HC MedSpa, our in-house doctor, Dr Qureshi uses a very small amount of Botulinum Toxin; a naturally purified protein, that works as a muscle relaxant. The substance is placed under the skin via a micro-injection and targeted at both sides of the nostrils and nose to mouth folds. This technique will essentially weaken the hyperactive muscle that is responsible for the elevation of the upper lip, therefore improving the appearance of excess gum exposure when smiling.

The non-invasive, Gummy Smile Correction treatment is a very discreet yet effective procedure and depending on the individual, we expect to create between 3-6 micro-injections per treatment. Visible improvement is noticed after 3 days, this is when the elevation of the upper lip will gradually become less and less. However, the final result is achieved up to 14 days post-treatment.

We often find that for many individuals, a ‘gummy smile’ is also partnered with a thin upper lip. To resolve both ailments, Lip Augmentation works in synergy to plump the lip area and give an overall rejuvenated and more attractive appearance.

What is Gummy Smile Correction?
Gummy Smile Correction uses a series of micro-injections of Botulinum toxin; a naturally purified protein, it works as a muscle relaxant to weaken contracting facial muscles. In this case, it blocks the chemical signal from the nerves that's responsible for elevating the upper lip to produce a less ‘gummy’ smile.
