In youthful skin, there is an abundance of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin that give it volume, support and suppleness. It becomes more distinguishable between 23-26 years old, when our body stops producing these elements altogether and existing collagen begins to break down. Consequently, facial lines, wrinkles and skin laxity – signs of ageing begin to arise, discarding the youthfulness and fresh appearance of the skin.

However, with numerous technological advancements in the last several years, dermal fillers are now a quick and convenient way to define facial contours, restore lost volume in cheeks, plump eye hollows (tear trough treatment), reduce the appearance of veins and tendons, enhance lips and correct bumps on the nose for a smooth appearance.

Dermal Fillers are made up of Hyaluronic Acid, which as we know, is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in the skin and body. It works by grouping water molecules which cushions and supports collagen and elastic fibres to provide overall hydration and ‘plumpness’.

This safe and effective ingredient is a clear-like gel that offers instant volume and correction to sunken and thinning areas. We recommend avoiding alcohol 24-48 hours prior to your Dermal Filler procedure as this will thin the blood, making bruising more likely.

Post-treatment, there may be some reddening, swelling and possible bruising (especially in the lips) – side effects can be more apparent the following day.
